How it all began:
Primarily founded in 1886 by Robert Schulz as a small foundry, the
"Robert Schulz Drugstore"
succeeded in 1892 with premises at Hauptstrasse in the city of Rheydt.
The first repair 'cements' were formul-ated at the end of the 19th century, born through the knowledge about pro-blems with foundry products and ex-periences gained with chemicals. They were sold to local foundries and machine companies (machine- and textile machine engineering, our home town Moenchengladbach is the "German Manchester") and preferably used as "casting cosmetics".
There is still a registration dating back to June 1900 with the Emperor's Patent Office in Berlin. |

2nd Generation
In the years of the 2nd Generation (2 brothers) during World War I 1914 -18, they sold more and more chemicals and photographic materials.
The reconstruction took many years after WW I during the depression time until the mid 1930s when the drugstore began to flourish. The company was enlarged and renamed proudly
"Eagle Rheydter Paint-, Putty- & Cement-Company"
and they relocated the bigger premises to the industrial area at Breitestrasse in the city of Rheydt. They produced mainly specialities for the foundry in-dustries, amongst others "American Matt Lacquer" as one can take from on ad of 1936.
Moreover, "Iron Cement" was de-veloped for the steel industries and sold to steel producers in the Rhine-Ruhr area with great success as the first product to withstand 1,500° C - by the way, this material is still today produced with little improvements and successfully used worldwide by renowned steel companies. |

3rd Generation
After their return from war captivity after WW II 1939-45, the 3rd gener-ation (again 2 brothers) rebuilt the entirely destructed building at Breite-str. in the city of Rheydt and used the neighbourhood of the chemcial giant Bayer in Uerdingen where the first polymers were produced in large scale.
The first formulations based on epoxies and polyesters were successfully used by "Eagle-Cements" in the early 1950s. "Diamant-Cements" emerged in the mid 50s having end users in the European countries and was represented do-mestically especially strongly in 'Ruhr-pott' the Rhine-Ruhr-Area.
The former Iron Curtain countries were visited in the late 1950s and in early 1970 the company was modernized & named DIAMANT Metallplastic GmbH |
