Times News Networks VTU partners with German universities Bangalore: The Visveswaraya Technological University (VTU) added another feature to its cap on Sunday by partnering with German universities for industry-academia tie ups. The MoU envisages better interaction and cooperation between German universities and industries with Indian counterpartners in the vistas of mechanical and materials engineering catering to the metalworking industries of machine tools, shipping and aircraft. Enthused by the success of the Indo German Institute of Technologies (IGIT) - a joint venture between VTU and Diamant Metallplastic of Germany and Diamant Triumph of India - an Indo-German Office was also opened by Dieter Patt, governor of North Rhine Westphalia, Germany and VTU vice-chancellor K. Balaveera Reddy in the presence of a 30-member delegation from German companies. "The IGIT has addressed issues relating to technology transfer, qualifying and training students, academia and industry personnel on these state-of-the-art technologies", Reddy said.
